Most storms start out as a few rumbles and fairly heavy rain which has mixed hail in it, it starts to gain strenth and has more frequent CG and CC (cloud to ground and cloud to cloud lightning strikes), as it becomes more powerful it grows and becomes Severe. Severe storms are Rare in the uk but still form and and do produce tornados although this is rare. The most powerful tornado in Uk history is a EF3 in 1880.
